When it comes to car manufactures websites, Nissan holds up against the best. Our initial impression of the NissanUSA.com website was one of total enjoyment. From animated graphics that loaded fast to extensive sections of raw interest, the initial experience was positive.
We found the navigation and basic outline of the website to be intuitive. On a negative note, while switching between computers and monitor resolutions, we found the text to become unreadable when utilizing screen resolutions around the 1280 x 1024 dimensions. Some may say we’re pinching at the fringes of importance, but we feel that providing readable text for larger format screen sizes is very important.
Hold the presses, the text looks fine on a laptop running 1680 by 1050 so it might be a small html glitch, but it does still pose a problem.

We hail from the great state of Texas. So while cruising Google and other search engines we utilized the following search terms as sample randomly selected terms to see where Nissan fell into the pack:

- South Central Nissan Sports Cars
- Central Texas Nissan Trucks for Sale

What we found was a very good coverage by Nissan for what we would call a good distribution of “Off the Wall” search terms. Nissan has obtained this coverage with strategically purchased ads for a very broad range of search terms in a number of search engines. In evaluation, they might not be scoring high within the search engines in the traditional sense, but they’re making up for it by purchasing top positions in pay-per-click programs for their dealers.
Bottom line, compared to other car manufacturers, they’re doing a fine job of attracting car buyers directly into the NissanUSA.com website and then passing the torch onto their dealerships by utilizing their internal Nissan Dealership Search Engine. Only question that we have, is how do they decide which dealership shows up first when we select Texas as our search criteria … we’ll let you know when we figure it out.
On a sour note, their internal search engine system is horrible, displaying total off-the-wall results for simple searches. Example "Texas Dealerships" brings up Nissan's Heritage, Nissan Careers and all of the current car models. We know that we can use their dealership locator, but what's the point of having a search engine internally that doesn't work at all ...

Buying a new or used car can be a pain for even the masochistic individual. NissanUSA.com provides a great tool within their Model Lineup section of the website. With a single click, we found ourselves with every model of Nissan’s Cars and Trucks in an easy to read and understand format. One stop shopping is always our favorite and Nissan has moved the entire showroom into a single view for our review and selection.
Seeing the new car and truck summary data is nice … but what about the dirty details that entice someone into the new-car-lust that drives us all? Enter the car detail section and you’ll never look back. We choose the 350z as our test case for detailed information evaluation. We were quickly … oh yea their website is fast … presented with data feeds for information regarding the exterior, interior, performance, safety, features / specs, prices / options, accessories and last but not least a photo gallery of 350z pictures.
Everything we wanted to know about our new 350z was presented high-and-tight along the top edge of the global navigation. A+ by all regards of navigational formulas.

We ask the question “Is there anything better than a Sports Car?” and quickly answer no. If you’ve driven the 350z you’ll understand where we’re coming from.
Taken directly from their website the 350z is described correctly by Nissan as:

We went through every detail about the 350z and enjoyed the quick pictures and text that was rendered instantly with expressive detail. From Engine specifications to braking and handling, every aspect of this sports car dream was well described and presented.
